Ransomware attacks soar
It probably comes as no surprise that in the past three months, ransomware attacks have increased by 80% in the UK according to a new report by Check Point, an American-Israeli multinational provider of software and combined hardware and software products for IT security. With the increase of flexible and remote working due to the on-going global pandemic, it’s becoming easier to attack more vulnerable set ups and those that have gaps in their IT security.
It is recommended that everyone takes additional precautions to prevent an unwanted virus attack.
This includes regular reminders to employees on how to identify and avoid potential ransomware attacks, i.e. not opening unusual attachments or emails from unknown sources.
It’s also recommended that all systems have the latest updates (or patches) applied and data is regularly backed up.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, it’s important to maintain a strong password policy not only for your business but personally as well.
Make sure you don’t download any software from unsecured or unknown websites.
So, while you’re keeping yourself safe from the Coronavirus, take some time to keep your computer safe from unwanted viruses too!
